Colorado Trip 2015

After Uncle Daniel's wedding, we said goodbye to Ryan (who had to work) and we headed to Colorado for the week.  The kids had lots of fun and Aunt Jessica made sure to make some special memories!  The girl's got to hang out with her for an afternoon where they shopped her closet and had a fashion show.

We celebrated the Fourth at the Robbins house and had lots of fireworks.

Uncle Flop-flop was in town with Cam and Shayli decided he was her "twin."

Grandma was in baby heaven with her two newest grandbabies....Rory (born May 6) and Dexton (June 1).

The difference in size was quite remarkable for only being 3 weeks apart......

And we had to include the "coming soon picture".  All three 2015 babies together for the first time.

Capture the flag was a big hit in Pa's backyard.  It offered hours of entertainment.

And the boys decided to have a warhead battle.  I'm pretty sure Kyson lost.....

A romp in the park and a hike to the stinky tower was included in the trip.

We always make a point of visiting the bowling alley for a family bowl-off.  We feel it our civic duty to keep Uncle Philip's bowling alley lucrative.  Oh wait.  We may have bowled for free....

The newlyweds joined us....

And Uncle Skip was teaching the finer points of pool.

Uncle Travis and Aunt Jessica hosted the first ever cousin camp out in their backyard.  From the sounds of it, it was a hit!  We're talking spooky visitors and eerie noises going on outside the tent. And broken curfews....

The morning came too early for all.  The muffins and juice made up for it!

Giant human foos ball was new to the family reunion.  The kids all had a great time once they got the hang of it.  We love our aunts and uncles!!!

Me and Dexton did some hanging out in the hammock.  Obviously we had company.

The grand finale of the trip was a scavanger hunt in Grandma's neighborhood.  Hooray!!

Some of the spoils from the hunt.

Meanwhile, back on the farm.....Pa was getting some good snuggles from some cute girls.

Grandma Lu always has the magic touch rocking the babies.  She loves to sing to them.

The famous "twin day".  The red shirts with matching stars has forever made Uncle Philip and Shayli twins.

Uncle Travis making sure Kyson knows who's boss.

We made it to the top! Dexton was there too, just not pictured.

Daniel & Amanda's Wedding

We only had a few short weeks to recuperate from our new addition before we loaded the plane and headed to Denver.  Daniel and Amanda got married on July 3 in Denver.  Which meant we got to spend the weekend having fun!

We arrived in the Denver early.  Around 9:30.  We left our house around 4 AM.  It was a little rough. We had the day to spend with family so we made good use of it and hit up the Cherry Creek Mall.  That didn't actually sound like a good idea to the kids so we decided to take them to Chuckee Cheese's.  They had a great time with their cousins!

The next morning we gussied ourselves up and headed to the temple.  Everyone looked great and wedding was lovely.

Kyson found the whole thing a little lacking so he decided to climb the trees....

Dexton slept through a large portion of it.

And Shayli and Pippa had a lot of fun!! Thankful for weddings and family and temples.

Dexton is FINALLY here!

I'm happy to announce that after 9 months and 4 days, our baby has finally decided to make his appearance.  With a little nudging that is.  My due date was May 28.  That ornery little baby waited so long that he's now a June baby.  Tsk, tsk.

Dexton Matthew Reese showed up at 5:23 pm on Monday June 1st, weighing 7 lbs 12 oz and 21 inches long.

I went into the hospital at 11:00 AM to be induced.  I was 4 days late and not really doing anything.  I think at my appt that morning I was dilated to maybe a 2 and about 50% effaced.  Which really didn't seem that great considering the fact that I had foolishly assumed I would have been holding my newborn for at least a few days by then.

When I got to the hospital, their system was down.  They got me all ready and hooked up.  And then we didn't do anything.  I guess they needed the computer system to be up and running before they administered the pitocin. I was very uncomfortable and irritable.  I was strapped to the bed and strapped with monitors but I wasn't having contractions and I wasn't in labor.  It all seemed ridiculous.  By 1:20 my doctor finally showed up and broke my water.  By 2:00 I was finally started on the pitocin.

Two-thirty came and I was finally starting to feel like we were getting somewhere.  I rated my pain at the time to be about a 3.  By 3:45 I was starting to think about the epidural I didn't want to miss out on again.  I decided to play it safe and ask early because I knew it would take a bit of time to get it going.  Pain was rated to be about 5-6.  I was guessing myself to be dilated about the same, 5-6 cm.   Now, I'm not going to get on my high horse here, but I will say this.  I don't know what in Sam hill was going on, but that anesthesiologist took freaking forever!!! I tried to be patient.  I tried to keep my mouth shut.  But I finally asked what was taking so long. He arrived by 4:30 and dilly-dallied doing who knows what until about 5 when he finally decided to administer the meds. By then I knew I was in transition.  I asked to be checked and the head was right there. I started pushing around 5:15.  The epidural had not kicked in at this point yet.

Dexton arrived at 5:23 and the epidural had kicked in about 40- 50%.  An hour later I was completely numb.  I couldn't feel my legs again until about 11.  I hate epidurals.  I am a much bigger fan of the intrathecals.  This hospital doesn't offer them.

We are certainly glad he made it safe and fairly quickly.  (If you ignore the date that is...)

It was love at first sight. We were lucky to have Grandma show up a couple of days earlier.  She was able to keep the kids busy and having fun!  There was some park playing and shopping that I heard about.  But I'm pretty sure all the kids wanted to do was come and see their new little brother.  There was much talk of hanging out at the hospital room all day.  I didn't care for that idea at all.

We stayed for the required 24 hours and then we were outta there!
I let the kids pick out his coming home outfit.  I think it  was a 3-6 month size and therefore was a tad big.

Pa showed up at the end of the week to meet Dexton.  The kids had a great time playing store and chess.  We managed to fit in ice cream a time or two as well!

Dexton's first bath actually happened after the first week.  We had to document it!

We love having Pa and Grandma come and we are always sad to see them go.  This time it was goodbye for just a few weeks.....Uncle Daniel's wedding coming up!

Father's Day was just  a couple of weeks after Dexton arrived.  For Father's Day we got Ryan and the boys matching shirts.  I must say it doesn't get much cuter than that!

Okay, maybe it does.......:)
