Kendri Turns 7!

This year Kendri's birthday was a little different.  I missed it! I left for the weekend unexpectedly when my grandpa Sim passed away.  Fortunately, I have awesome in-laws who were able to make it a memorable experience in a good way!  Ryan took the kids down to Tracy after their softball games and when they got to Aunt Jenny's house, Ryan made sure Kendri opened the door.  Much to her surprise, everyone yelled "Surprise!".  Kendri had no idea she was headed there for a birthday party for her!  It was the day before her actual birthday but I didn't hear her complaining.....

She was very adamant that she have an oreo cake.  Luckily, Gammi knew just where to find one!

You can't beat a swim party with the cousins.  I'm starting to worry that we won't be able to live up to it next year.

At seven Kendri is:

a great helper
very hard worker in all things
fun sense of humor
silly
model student
learning the scriptures
can be very moody ;)
awesome big sister
still likes school!

We love you Kendri!

Teeth and T-ball

Kendri has been busy losing teeth!  Actually this happened last month.  She lost her first tooth...

And then the next day lost her second tooth!  Can't get much more exciting than that!  I dare-say she's catching up to Lexi....

Kyson started his first year of t-ball.  He's thrilled to finally be playing something!  Although he is quite a bit smaller than most of the players......

His first game didn't go quite as planned.  After not getting the first couple of balls, Kyson proceeded to throw his hat on the ground and stomp around.  (Think major leagues when the ump and coach get into it and start throwing their little temper tantrums.)   And then he did it again and again.  Pretty much after each batter hit the ball and he didn't get it.  I, needless to say, was astounded.  But after thinking back to my early years of marriage I vaguely remembered threatening my own husband that if I ever saw him throw his hat on the ground during his softball games again, I would never watch another game of his.  Nor would his future children.  Genetic?  Seems strange....

But I'm happy to report that after a "stern-talking-to", Ryan Kyson came around.  The next game had no temper tantrums.   We actually have another game today.  Hopefully it goes well!

And as you can see, t-ball is tough!

Happy Real Easter!

And here's our actual Easter Day!  I decided I'd continue the "tradition" of making the kids Easter clothes because it is the only way I can get them to match without breaking the bank.  I scored big time with the fabric and paid under $20 for all the Easter clothes, matching skirts for the dolls (I know.  Roll your eyes at me), and an ironing board cover to match my sewing table (roll your eyes again.  I can take it.)  And I still have fabric left!

At any rate, I had fun and Lexi decided her daddy needed to match also. :)  She made the bow tie by herself and was anxious for Ryan to model it.  Unfortunately (of should I say, fortunately?) she didn't finish it in time for Easter.  Ryan had to give a talk in church on Easter Sunday.  I couldn't wait for the big Easter Bunny to speak to us! He, he, he.  Sigh.  If only it had worked out that way.  Oh well, there's always next year!

The kids woke up bright and early on Easter.  (We let Shay sleep in.  We've learned our lesson when we wake her up.  It ain't pretty people.)  In fact, Kendri told us she woke up at 3:00 in the morning and crept downstairs to "check things out."  She then told us she had seen the Easter bunny!  Huh?  But it gets better.  She had also stroked his soft fur and even touched his little nose.  What?  I was seriously confused.  I started thinking that maybe she had a really vivd dream.  I mean, we had just watched "Rise of the Guardians" right before bed.  And if she has dreams anything like her mother, I can assure you it would've been good!  But then she started to describe the couch.  Exactly like I had left it the night before.  I was trying to put all these pieces together while we all ran downstairs to see what the Easter bunny had brought.  That's when I saw it.  Kyson's pillow pet sitting on the couch where it didn't belong.  And then Kendri's memories of her magical night shattered.  The Easter bunny wasn't Easter-y at all.  But a pillow instead.  Sigh.  Poor Kendri.  Don't worry, she got over it fast.

Apparently, we didn't take very many pictures of the Easter basket hunt because this was the only one I had of Shayli.  And as you can see it's nothing to brag about!  We had a great Easter and had friends over for Easter dinner where I proceeded to make enough scalloped potatoes to last the entire week.  Probably because my husband peeled a 20 lb bag of potatoes.  The. Whole. Thing.  That's right people.  Ryan's not afraid of a potato peeler.   Happy Easter!

Happy Fake Easter!

We celebrated Easter twice this year.....once with the rest of the Reese family and once on our own!  Some of the family headed to Disneyland for Springbreak/Easter so here are the "fake" Easter pictures!

At this point in the day, most of my children had already shed important clothing items such as their skirt (Shayli).  Not mention all the sweaters and shoes I kept finding lying around! :)

We had a little Easter egg hunt and then most of the day was spent enjoying family.  Pretty low-key!
